After all the debate and discussion about who we wanted from each group the draw was made for the Euro 2012 qualifiers this morning. Yet again Scotland are in a 5 team group with Spain, Czech Republic, Lithuania (again) and Liechtenstein.
The dates will be confirmed after the fixture meeting on the 19/02 and as normal the keen (or mad) members will be ready to jump in to book straight away for any away games later in the year. If you want to be kept in the loop on any discussions about this get in touch.
Also as we did not draw Sweden in the group the SFA are expected to confirm the rumoured friendly with them in August soon.
The date has been set for the annual Sporran Legion BBQ, as normal it is the same weekend as the Seafield Gala Day, Saturday 3rd July. With any luck we might even see some sun this year.
Due to a lack of numbers no bus will be run for the forthcoming Czech Republic friendly.

Those Legionaries who braved Cardiff are still trying to forget the nightmare of the game so the less said about that the better.
If anyone gives me some photos from the trip then they will be online soon.
02/11/09
Three Legionaries are heading to Cardiff by car after work/university on the Friday afternoon with the madder West Coast contingent doing the trip as a day trip on what the rest think of as the bus journey from Hell - leaving Weegie land at 3am and returning about 24 hours later and our CPH member flying to London and joining a bus from there!!!
10/10/09
Photos have just been uploaded from Japan
As of yet none of the West Lothian members have decided if they are heading to Cardiff for the Wales game. Some of the Weegie members will be heading down on one of the various bus trips being organised.

Many of you will have heard Eric The Cheeseman sing his " Tartan Army Time Of My Life", and he has now completed the second song - Gay Paree - in memory of humping France twice in the last campaign.

The Scottish FA confirmed that they have secured a deal to play Argentina at Hampden in a Tennent's International Challenge match on Wednesday November 19th this year.
Following extensive negotiations between the two parties, the ticket prices have been set at the same level as the forthcoming World Cup Qualifying Match against Norway. This being a significant improvement on the prices that were suggested when the prospect of the match was first discussed earlier this year.
The prices are:- Adults £25, £30 and £35. Family £18/£10.
The match will be televised live on Sky Sports with an 8pm kick-off. Details of how supporters will be able to purchase tickets will be made available in due course.

Much as it might not seem different the Sporran Legion website now has its own dedicated webspace rather than relying on free ones. This should stop all of the annoying popups that were forever appearing from the old one. This does mean that all the pages have just been uploaded again so if you notice anything missing or any broken links (apart from the France 98 photos being missing- I know about them) please let me know.

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for the Croatia game.
Following the sucess of the visit to the Railway Club we are planning on making that a regular event for midweek games.

After a frantic day of booking flights 6 of us have booked for Iceland and 5 for Macedonia..
The Iceland trip is all out of Stansted with Iceland Express on the Tuesday morning with 4 returning EARLY on the Thursday morning and the other 2 having a lie in and coming back on the Friday afternoon.

The hotels will be sorted in the next wee while.

The Quiz night is being held on Friday the 9th of October, 8.00pm in the Seafield Arms.
Quiz will be along the lines of one round on Scottish football, one round on sport with the other 8 rounds a mixture of general knowledge, current affairs etc etc. (but this might change!)
We're have space for 12 teams of 3 or 4, £1 entry per person .
We will be holding a raffle as normal so we would ask that each team bring something for it.
As usual, there is not a fantastic prize for the winner, just the adulation of being the Sporran Legion Quiz Champions!
25/08/07
We are trying to work out a date for the next Sporran Legion quiz night, end of October / start of November is looking the likely time at the moment. Watch this space for more information.

Therefore most people will be meeting in the Seafield Arms for the game so see you then.....

7 Legionnaires headed south to the big smoke last weekend for the Loony Alba Boat Trip and a few beers. See the other photos page for the censored version of the weekend. Photos have also been added from a night out held in Edinburgh a few weeks ago.

Sorry due to work commitments the website has not been updated for a while, hopefully things will be back to normal over the next month or so.
12 representatives of the Sporran Legion watched Scotland win away to Austria in Vienna (the biggest Sporran Legion attendance at an away game since the Holland game in 2003). The first of the photos are now on line.
Only one brave sole made the trip north to watch them win over the Faroe Islands , however as his camera never made it back from Vienna there are no photos to record this trip. (However look at the ones from 2002 and imagine the sun shining - doubt it will have changed much!!). Some members headed west to the Sports Cafe and then The Snaffle Bit in Glasgow to watch the game and enjoy a few celebratory drinks, whilst the others made the more sensible choice to stay in the Seafield Arms. From what can be remembered about the night in Glasgow it was a good night!
The next "away trip" for some Sporran Legionnaires is braving the big capital in mid July for the LA boat trip along the Thames with the next "football trip" being Paris in September. The Sporran Legion numbers attending this game are growing by the day and every possible means of transport and route seem to be being used. If you want to travel with us to the game get in touch and we will give you more information on what routes we are using.
There are also 5 booked already to go to Tbilisi in October - two using BA departing Sunday and returning Saturday with the remaining three going via Riga departing Sunday and back on the Friday with a combination of Ryanair, Easyjet and Air Baltic. Another few have said they are going to be looking into the charter options so fingers crossed there will be another good Sporran Legion turnout.
30/04/07
Thank you to everyone who joined in the quiz night on Saturday night, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Well done to "Billy's Maroon Noses" who won, closely followed by " The Seafield Rampant Lions" in second place.
Also thank you to Tennants Lager for their donation of two slabs of Tennants for the raffle prizes - enjoy them Rooser and Meg.
The photos will be on line soon.
20/03/07
The Sporran Legion Scarf is now for sale at £5 each.
